Elizabeth coordinates with writers and photographers in producing the award-winning publication and creating the website, statemagazine.okstate.edu, which features a blog including articles and photographs from current and past issues.
Joining University Marketing in January 2015 made Elizabeth’s circle complete. A fifth generation Oklahoman, she was born in Stillwater when her father played football for the Cowboys. As her dad made his living in professional football, she grew up in the northeast United States and western Canada, returning to Stillwater to attend OSU where she ice skated on Theta Pond. She earned many academic scholarships including awards from the Scripps-Howard Foundation and the Oklahoma City Advertising Club Outstanding Senior. As an undergraduate, she served as the Mortar Board calendar editor, yearbook editor-in-chief and sports editor, newspaper night desk editor, along with many Greek philanthropic activities, leading to selection as a Top Ten Senior in the OSU College of Arts and Sciences.
Taking her OSU degrees in journalism and advertising/public relations to Houston, she worked for Fortune 500 companies in corporate communications with magazine, newspaper, newsletter and brochure publications, media relations, direct marketing, event planning and trade shows. Her experience includes the oil and gas industry, education and tourism throughout the United States. Her news articles and advertising copywriting published in the Houston Chronicle, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Dallas Morning News, Austin American-Statesman and Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Most recently, she served as community news editor at the Stillwater News Press, which won the Associated Press Excellence Award two years in a row. Elizabeth garnered several first place awards for her reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists, along with honors from the Associated Press and Oklahoma Press Association.
Daily page designing, with writing and photography for a Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. (CNHI) newspaper, magazines, social media and digital products, developed her skills in meeting press deadlines with high quality standards. Her articles have appeared in major newspapers across the country from the Tulsa World and The Oklahoman to the Washington Times and San Antonio Express-News to the websites of the Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine.
Elizabeth has completed graduate studies in the field of education in Texas and Oklahoma.
She raised two children who are married now. Her daughter and son-in-law, both OSU graduates, have returned to Stillwater with a beautiful, redheaded grandbaby. Her son, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, is beginning his career as an Army officer with her daughter-in-law at the Warrior Training Center in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Elizabeth is involved with the grassroots effort of West Point Moms Bake to send treats for deployed soldiers, encouraging them on their missions with a taste of home. She is also a member of the Stillwater Frontier Rotary Club and a sustaining member of the Junior League of Corpus Christi Inc. In 2014, Elizabeth graduated with the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Stillwater Class 23.
